Innovative transport technology brings greater efficiency to production
The internal logistics of turboMech GmbH & Co. KG in Uplengen is handled with the low-floor transport vehicle “move-e-star” from HIT Hafen- und Industrietechnik GmbH from Wardenburg. The “move-e-star” moves the heavy workpieces between the individual processing machines and the production halls. The in-house development from HIT is fully mobile like a hovercraft.
As a processor of forged and milled steel parts, turboMech GmbH & Co. KG supplies numerous companies in the chemical, automotive and energy sectors as well as mechanical and plant engineering. The company, founded in 2005, is a sister company of the traditional Augustfehn steelworks. At the Uplengen location in East Frisia, the turboMech processes heavy components weighing up to 10 tons and being up to 8 meters long. The scope of production includes the machining of forged and wear parts, tool molds, slewing bearings and gear rims, piston, tie and coupling rods as well as machine components as well as contract manufacturing. There are several machine tools in the company's halls that refine the raw parts into finished parts. Internal logistics is a challenge.
The “move-e-stars” model used carries a payload of up to eight tons. Several workpieces can be placed on a transport frame, which is then picked up by the “move-e-star” and transported to the next processing station. The “move-e-star” thus works as a uniform transport system. With the integrated lifting unit, it independently picks up the transport table and workpieces and sets them down again. This means that complete order parts can be transported simultaneously in a single trip.
